Best Matches Watched in 2025 - Big List!

Image
It's December and it's the time for the Best Matches Watched for 2025.  HM stands for Honorable Mention and are matches that absolutely worth checking out along with the classics listed. I mention them because, you might watch them and be like, "No dude... that was badass. That is a classic too." And you know those ones that are on the fence for me too. I have to give them a nod here along with the classics.  Also I tend to think of things in terms of promotional/regional style. You might love a TNA tag match but hate a GAEA tag. Or dig New Japan Juniors but not like death matches at all. You know your preferences best so, keep that in mind! What I call a classic might mean something different to you. To me, it's a match that stands the test of time. It is something a wrestling fan would very much enjoy today and years from now. It's a match I would have someone seek out, if interested.  If you need more info then, go and read my comments in the  correspondin...

TAJIRI - You Might Have Missed

Image
Yoshihiro Tajiri has been one of my favorite wrestlers since he came into ECW. He probably is one of the wrestlers that got me hooked. His simple blue trunks and hybrid style really caught my attention. Years ago I looked into some of his early matches in IWA Japan as well as later stuff in his SMASH promotion. I'll include a couple "archive" reviews here if you missed them. This will be an ongoing project but will most likely be sporadically updated. I don't want to watch a giant chunk of his matches and get burnt out. Silver King & El Texano vs Takashi Okano & Yoshihiro Tajiri (IWA Japan 03/07/95) : Whoa! Let me catch my breath here. Double plus quick lucharesu opening. Tajiri's throwing kicks even in his green pad & trunk days, nice! Texano eats a couple then, says " Hey Silver! You get in there man!" Eventually chairs are brought into the mix & it gets really good. The native team look dusted but, Tajiri is showing all kinds of intest...

New Japan - Best of the Super Juniors - 2010

Image
Hi wrestling fans! A few years back I found New Japan has a bunch of free matches up on their Japanese YouTube page. There's stuff from the early 2000's up to the early 2010's. There's actually quite a bit available. Now, many of these seem to be from small shows and aren't your big time events. I've gone through and there are some great matches though. In this Battle Guide, I'm collecting Best of the Super Junior matches from 2010. Down the road, I'll be looking at more of New Japan 2010. Stay tuned for that! OK let's take a look at these matches. You will find something you like! Starting with the 06/01 show Yoshihashi (before YOSHI-HASHI) vs Fujita "Jr." Hayato :  A very good, intense bout. Jr. looked like a leg kicking Terminator. Yoshihashi was good as well but, Jr.'s technique was superior. The finish really drove that home. Some might not love the finish but, I certainly did. It looked like a MMA finish where the ref has to call ...

ROH - Showdown in Motown - 2005

Image
Hi folks! Today we're going to take a look at the Ring of Honor show Showdown in Motown. This is ROH's first show in Detroit, MI 2005. BJ Whitmer vs Delirious - BJ's powerhouse style vs Delirious' high flying. Solid, exciting stuff. Good match!  Claudio Castagnoli vs Nigel McGuinness - Damn Claudio! That's a helluva start! I wish these two fought more often. Two of the physically larger wrestlers with similar styles. Kinda seems like a no brainer now. Definitely a pure wrestling match until Nigel starts heeling it up. Very good stuff. Chad Collyer & Sal Rinauro vs Roderick Strong & Jack Evans - FIP flashback for the Badger. God damn, that was a sick under card tag match! Everyone was going off, doing crazy moves & hitting them perfectly. Sal...man, I forgot how much I like his wrestling. Chad was super solid here and wouldn't mind seeing him again. Jack & Rod brought their A-game. This was a great under card tag match. Real bananas shit. Homic...
