Wrestling Dream Battles

Jushin Liger, Kensuke Sasaki & Kuniaki Kobayashi vs Pegasus Kid, Super Strong Machine & Tatsutoshi Goto (08/16):  Oh man, I wish we got the full thing! This was an excellent mix of wrestlers. It was as good in the ring as it was on paper. Additionally the "junior" wrestlers were treated as equals to the heavies. Stuff like this is why I am so interested in this period of NJPW! More 1990 New Japan to come! Click the labels below for more 1990, NJPW or 90's wrestling recommendations!

Masa Chono & Keiji Muto vs Wild Samoan & Great Kokena (Yokozuna) (07/19):  Very good to great heel/face tag match. This had excellent pacing, teases and payoffs. It is probably pretty close to an American style tag match but that doesn't diminish this at all. 1990 is that time where I feel the U.S., Japan & Mexico were on the same level of athleticism and quality of work especially with younger talent.

Keiji Muto &  Masa Chono vs Shinya Hashimoto & Kensuke Sasaki (06/18):  16 minutes of action! Chono & Sasaki were flying out the gate! Muto & Hashimoto slowed it down for a moment. Then this kept going at a steady pace until the finish. Chono had an awesome segment with Hashimoto involving the STF. Honestly everyone was excellent here. This was a very good tag match with four soon to be super stars. More 1990 New Japan to come. Stay tuned folks! 👇👇👇Click the labels for more matches you'd like to see!

I'm pretty shocked by the news of his passing. Thank you for being an awesome pro wrestler PAC. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of his matches. If you're interested, below are many of my favorite matches of The Man Gravity Forgot. PAC vs. Claudio Castagnoli (PWG BOLA '07 - Block B Quarterfinal):  Spectacular at times, Claudio was a fantastic base for PAC's moves. Likewise, PAC moved and bumped brilliantly for Double C. Very good match! El Generico vs. PAC (PWG ASW V Nt. 1 2007):  Classic PWG title match. Heck I don't need to qualify it with "PWG title match." It's a straight up classic match. It is very much a go for broke, empty the gas tank with the pedal to the metal match. PAC is excellent as always and he hits everything perfectly despite doing some of the most insane stuff. No knock on Jack Evans but he's been replaced with a better model. Honestly I think Ricochet is/was redundant if on the same show as PAC. Anyhow, PAC is ...

Bruiser Brody vs Great Kabuki (Cage Match - World Class - 06/07/81) : A really good old school back and forth cage match. There's a fair bit of action here as opposed to a lot of stabbing and face grating like Abby cage matches. It's nothing earth shattering but a perfect match to watch while eating lunch 🙂

Cactus Jack vs Terry Funk (IWA Japan -  No Rope Barbed Wire Death Match - Duel of the Wilds  01/08/95): Quite possibly the greatest deathmatch that I've seen. It was everything that makes Terry Funk & Cactus Jack great- violence, comedy, physical disregard, psychology, etc. They really sucked me into this match. They didn't depend on the gimmick- they used it to their advantage. The barbwire was just there for them to use. The chairs, flames , blood , stumbling, chaos, terror, exhaustion- it was demented, no! depraved. Just fantastically orchestrated violence. I can't rave enough. For complaints, it didn't have a tremendous build to an orgasmic finish. Hell the finish wasn't that great but, it was a psychological masterwork, dare I say in spite of...no! because of these things. This was a spectacle as all deathmatches should be. They put everything into this one. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
