Cruising the 80's: Giant Baba vs Nick Bockwinkel - 12/01/80

Image
Giant Baba vs Nick Bockwinkel (All Japan):  Holy cow! Bockwinkel was like a man possessed in this match! I've never seen him this aggressive. He's usually cool, calm & calculating in the ring. Here he was looking to hurt Giant Baba. Nick was driving in knees like Yoji Anjo and clubbing Baba's chest like Stan Hansen. This really was something special to see. Baba was certainly spry in in 1980. His big boot looked great and he had quite the offensive flurry (for him at least). This was very good pro wrestling. It's about 9 minutes long. I really liked this match.  πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡Check out the labels below for more reviews you might enjoy!

Cruising the 80's: Rusher Kimura vs The Stomper - 03/08/80

Rusher Kimura vs The Stomper (IWE) : Yes! This is what I wanted. This is just two guys bashing each other for 3 falls. The first fall is Rusher getting a flurry of big offense (for '80) and beating the Stomper. The 2nd and 3rd fall are more evenly paced. Stomper looks and delivers on being a badass wrestler. Rusher Kimura is everything you want - lumpy, tough & bleeding . He has a excellent foe in the Stomper. It's not complicated. Is there a big story? No but, it's a mean looking dude beating up the hero. Sometimes that's all ya need. Good to very good stuff! Under 15 minutes. March Mayhem continues!!! πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡Check out the labels below for more stuff you might like!!!

Cruising the 80's: Rusher & Oki vs The Bruiser & The Stomper - 03/15/80

Rusher Kimura & Kintaro Oki vs Dick the Bruiser & The Stomper (IWE) : March Mayhem crossover baby! Old school like 50's - 60's type rough & tumble fight. The color picture gives it away that it's '80 along with the tight perms Rusher & Dick are rocking. Seriously those were hairdos old ladies were rocking at the time. Fancy but nice and neat for an older woman πŸ˜„ Try telling Dick the Bruiser that he's got a old woman's haircut! Anyhow, this is a fun match of 4 big guys wallopping each other. There's no rhyme or reason for anything. It's 2/3 falls but that's not really important. It's a fun time with a beer and a snack. πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡ Check out the labels below for more stuff you might like!

Cruising the 80's: Brody & Mosca vs Hata & Toguchi - 01/08/80

Bruiser Brody & Angelo Mosca vs Rocky Hata & Tiger Toguchi (All Japan) - More Angelo Mosca? πŸ˜‹ Not really because I'm more interested in his partnership with Brody. This match was a good time. Rocky Hata & Tiger Toguchi put up a good fight. They throw a couple nice looking drop kicks. Mosca is selling for 'em. Heck even Brody is selling for them. I did NOT see that coming. That said he's not necessarily stopping And that's how it should be. No way are Rocky & Tiger on Brody's level. Still those dudes show a lot of guts standing up to that wild man. Brody does a mean looking drop kick of his own and the TV channel replays it immediately  like it was a shooting star press! This match pans out how you'd imagine and a lot of the fun is the sense of chaos created by Bruiser Brody. And that's what this bout is all about - Bruiser Brody! It's an excellent performance by him. He's selling his character and getting the energy up for a small ti...

Cruising the 80's: Giant Baba vs Angelo Mosca - 01/18/80

Giant Baba vs Angelo Mosca (All Japan) - I swear these aren't all going to be Baba matches! This one seemed like a good pick today though. Mosca is a guy I've heard about but never seen & per my notes there's a tag match around this time I wanted to see. This is joined in progress by three minutes. It's pretty simple old school brawling back and forth. Baba is an acquired taste. So I liked seeing his chops which Angelo sold well. The real highlight of this match is when Bruiser Brody stomps out from the back. He and Angelo beat Baba-san with a chair πŸ˜„ And that's kind of it but that's wrestling for ya! If it was all about ratings and rankings then I would say, "Save Your Time!" Wrestling is more than that and this is one of those little segments that is a lot of fun especially when I know there's another match or two where these grumpy bastards go at it again. It's about 5 minutes.
