Tajiri & Zumbido vs Chicago Express & Black Warrior (05/29/97 BJW): 7-8 minutes of lucha sweetness. Nearly constant movement. BJW shows the whole thing. Even they knew how good this was - hidden gem. RECOMMENDED Tajiri vs Chicago Express (05/30/97 BJW): Reminds me of Tajiri vs Super Crazy - dives, cool arm drags, ranas - you'll dig it! Tajiri & Ikuto Hidaka vs Super Crazy & Super Calo (12/18/99 ECW) Chattanooga, TN. This would be so awesome to see at your high school gym! These fans saw something special. Spring board moves, tilt-a-whirls, dives, fighting in the crowd... the ending came sooner that I would have wanted but that's not a complaint but a preference. Very good stuff! RECOMMENDED  Tajiri vs Tommy Dreamer (03/25/00): Wichita, KS. Corino is talking crap on the mic. Dreamer comes out to shut him up but Tajiri intervenes. This was a fun house show type match yet had some pretty good spots. Definitely scratches an itch for your standard ECW match. Everyone...

  Zero One Wrestling • Yujiro & Tetsuya Naito v Osamu Namiguchi & Shito Ueda: Pretty fun little match. Simple but effective tag wrestling. Seriously, U.S. wrestling should just aim for this instead of over complicating everything. •Takao Omori v Kohei Sato: I'm not sure how this was edited time wise. Maybe half was shown of 10 minutes. What we got was enjoyable stuff.  •Daisuke Sekimoto v Kamikaze: 7 of 11 minutes. Holy cow! This was a hard hitting yet surprising little sprint. Kamikaze is an excellent mid card bruiser who pairs well with Sekimoto. This was a blast if you like lariats and suplexes! •Ikuto Hidaka & Munenori Sawa v Masaaki Mochizuki & Minoru Tanaka: Junior shoot-style brawl? That's a good way to describe this bout. They were haphazardly kicking each other all match. There's a lot of animosity here. This was really exciting and although a bit frenetic, it sold the hate. I haven't seen it all but contrary to popular belief, early 2000's Japanese wrestling doesn't suck. Is it different than the greatest decade in modern wrestling (1990s) ? Yup but there's plenty of great wrestling to enjoy. I think the inter-promotional stuff is very interesting and although it would stay a part of puro, it was best when it was fresh & new. You might be familiar with a couple of these but there's a bunch that I think flew under the radar or have been forgotten about: Curry Man, CIMA & Super Boy vs Minoru Fujita, Shiryu II & Jody Fleisch (M-Pro 12/21/99) A few days short of 2000 but I'm counting it! Hi wrestling fans! We've got more Tajiri You Might Have Missed! Check out this cool pic! Okay let's get to the matches! Tajiri vs Minoru Tanaka (BJW 02/03/98) : This is from Big Japan Wrestling. These two are at it again! See this post for their previous fight. Here we get the full match & its 8 minutes of excellence. This is a tournament match so both wrestlers are looking to end this quickly and advance to the finals. Minoru has the advantage as he uses his grappling skills to put Tajiri in a few submission predicaments. Yoshihiro fights with his feet but is looking to send Minoru back to BattlARTS with suplexes. There's a lot of cool stuff here and fans of either guy will have a blast with this bout. Very good! ~spoiler alert~ Tajiri vs Gedo (BJW 02/03/98) : Yes! This was smart! Gedo uses the injury Tajiri sustained in the previous match against him. This is well paced, told a great story but had plenty of action & excitement. This was a great match! Gedo is awe...

The Winger vs Fantastik (BJW) : Big Japan Wrestling is becoming one of my favorite promotions because of the variety that they've offered since day one. I was watching my BJW death match tape in 1999 and while I thought that was pretty sweet, I would have loved it had they included great mucha stuff like this! Fantastik lives up to his moniker. The Winger is a guy I knew from some death match stuff but he's a very good wrestler. He gets broken down over the years but late 90's & early 2000's seem to be his prime. This match cooks at just over 9 minutes. It's all lucharesu action with a very nice pace. I am very thankful that BJW included virtually all of this match. They tend to clip things up but even they knew how cool this was for BJW at the time. Solid Recommendation to those interested.  👇👇👇 Check out more stuff you'll dig! Isami Kodaka vs. Ryuji Ito (BJW) : Death Match Survivor 2013 Final. This is a 2 out of 3 Falls Death Match. Each fall has different items. #1 is TLC, #2 is light tubes and concrete blocks & #3 is TLC, light tubes and concrete blocks & bed of nails. 🤘🤕 If you're gonna be dumb, you better be tough. This was all about who's tougher because otherwise a lot of this could be dumb. The psychology here is "we're bound to be in pain & bleeding by the end of this - who can tolerate more?" So you get your turn-my turn spots. You get Side Russian leg sweeps onto objects - both guys are getting hurt. But again: who's tougher? Not who's smarter, more skilled, anything. That's not to say everything is this stuff because each guy really doesn't want to get destroyed. It's 2/3 falls and feels like an endurance match. There's no quick fall for instance. Again tough not smart.  I'm not sure if I can rate it but it really is something to see....

The Winger vs. Shadow WX (BJW) : Barb wire match. This was smooth or pretty but, dammit! This was fun!! They had some excellent spots with the B-wire boards. That drop toe hold into the wire was especially sick 🤘 Another neat aspect was that strands of the wire was coming loose and staying attached in the wrestlers. So each bump or movement involved getting stuck with metal barbs. Post match, Winger shows that a large piece was entangled in his hair. So, yeah this had good wrestling working with the props, those spots were pretty awesome and this was a hair under 15 minutes. There's nothing to object to - this was a blast. Hi folks! Wrapping up March Mayhem with a full show review of BJW 03/31/15 . •Yuko Miyamoto & Abdullah Kobayashi & Jaki Numazawa v Brahman Shu & Brahman Kei & Toshiyuki Sakuda - Fun comedy match. I'm guessing Yuko Miyamoto earned a night off. •Masato Inaba & Kazuki Hashimoto & Masaya Takahashi v Tsutomu Oosugi & Hercules Senga & Heddi French - This was a quick, fun all action match. I feel like it was edited down a little bit. Tsutomu Oosugi & Hercules Senga were impressive. Have to keep my eyes open for them in other BJW shows. •Kankuro Hoshino v Ryuichi Sekine *Barbed wire Board Barbed wire Weapon Death Match* This starts out with them wearing kick pads wrapped in barb wire. There's a bat and a chair wrapped in the wire. Plus there's barb wire boards in the corners. This is an easy recommendation! Both guys did an excellent job with their move selection and pacing.   03/01/98 Gran Hamada, Masato Yakushiji & Naohiro Hoshikawa vs. MEN'S Teioh, Shoichi Funaki & Yoshihiro Tajiri - 8 of 13 minutes shown. This was very good Michinoku action. It's not as crisp as the top shelf stuff but is still damn good especially once they start picking up the pace. Tajiri fits in wonderfully and wish we got more of him in this one. I'm looking forward to seeing more Hoshikawa. Hayabusa & Super Delfin vs. Gran Naniwa & Tiger Mask - 10 of 20 minutes shown. This was really good stuff with great action and near falls which is typical of these guys. Blue gear Tajiri might be my favorite era of his. He & Minoru are doing great submissions, pin attempts, kicks & suplexes. They are evenly matched and just doing everything! A great match and a peek into what Tajiri could have been like if he stayed in Japan. Tajiri vs Antifaz del Norte (ECW Dec. 1998) - Their debut match. It's mainly highlights from Hardcore TV. Tajiri was already doing his Tarantula move!? I didn't think that started until right before he started wearing the long pants & spitting the mist. Tajiri vs El Mosco, Taz (ECW 06/24/99) - Hartford, CT fan cam. It's a fun segment with El Moscow where he's given time to shine but is quickly dispatched by Tajiri, who's moving up in the ranks. Dan Severn vs. Yoshihiro Tajiri (NWA 06/24/1995) - Quick but cool UWFi style match in the middle of a baseball or football field while Tarzan Goto (Dan's next challenger) looks on. Definitely recommend checking this out if you've got a few minutes free.  Tajiri & Shinjiro Otani vs Jushin Liger & El Samurai (BJW 06/07/97) - These are 4 guys to do a hate filled Junior battle. Liger and Tajiri kicked off the animosity & it never let up. Damn, Otani brought the stiffness. Samurai and Liger responded in kind. Of course there were great high spots and power moves too. Although, Tajiri was a Big Japan talent you never would have known as his skill has always been top notch. Yoshihiro Tajiri has been one of my favorite wrestlers since he came into ECW. He probably is one of the wrestlers that got me hooked. His simple blue trunks and hybrid style really caught my attention. Years ago I looked into some of his early matches in IWA Japan as well as later stuff in his SMASH promotion. I'll include a couple "archive" reviews here if you missed them. This will be an ongoing project but will most likely be sporadically updated. I don't want to watch a giant chunk of his matches and get burnt out. Silver King & El Texano vs Takashi Okano & Yoshihiro Tajiri (IWA Japan 03/07/95) : Whoa! Let me catch my breath here. Double plus quick lucharesu opening. Tajiri's throwing kicks even in his green pad & trunk days, nice! Texano eats a couple then, says " Hey Silver! You get in there man!" Eventually chairs are brought into the mix & it gets really good. The native team look dusted but, Tajiri is showing all kinds of intest...

Hopefully you find something cool to watch from what I've reviewed. 01/07 Chikako Shiratori & Kiyoko Ichiki vs. Chihiro Nakano & Marcela - Joshi in Big Japan! This was very fun wrestling. Shiratori & Kiyoko Ichiki reminded me of Mita & Shimoda. This got good when Marcela got tag in because her & Nakano started doing double team moves. Looking forward to more! Ikuto Hidaka vs. Fantastik - Hidaka, I know. Fantastik is new to me but, I like him. He did this dive that was super dangerous looking... and super cool!! Definitely want to see more of him. These two did a really fun fireworks action match. There were lots of awesome aerial moves and moves off the Irish whip. Fun bit of lucharesu. BJW is on a roll!
