Tatsumi Fujinami vs El Solitario (05/10/79 NJPW) : Wow! 10 minutes of aggressive yet sportsman-like chain wrestling. Absolutely enthralling stuff. A technical wrestling fan's dream...I LOVED IT. Roddy Piper & Dick Slater vs Ashura Hara & Mighty Inoue (AJPW) : Writing this one for myself like the other one...as it it'll float like a turd in a pool. Still its good to have these up for posterity. Perhaps future generations will find value in this 🤔 In any case, this is a very fun tag match. It is especially true if you're a fan of Piper who provides a lot of the character to this match. I don't know if he did more than one tour in Japan but, his charisma is international. Dick Slater provide the moves as he and Mighty Inoue do some really good stuff for '83. This is not a secret hidden gem match but it is a good time.   Zero One Wrestling • Yujiro & Tetsuya Naito v Osamu Namiguchi & Shito Ueda: Pretty fun little match. Simple but effective tag wrestling. Seriously, U.S. wrestling should just aim for this instead of over complicating everything. •Takao Omori v Kohei Sato: I'm not sure how this was edited time wise. Maybe half was shown of 10 minutes. What we got was enjoyable stuff.  •Daisuke Sekimoto v Kamikaze: 7 of 11 minutes. Holy cow! This was a hard hitting yet surprising little sprint. Kamikaze is an excellent mid card bruiser who pairs well with Sekimoto. This was a blast if you like lariats and suplexes! •Ikuto Hidaka & Munenori Sawa v Masaaki Mochizuki & Minoru Tanaka: Junior shoot-style brawl? That's a good way to describe this bout. They were haphazardly kicking each other all match. There's a lot of animosity here. This was really exciting and although a bit frenetic, it sold the hate. Genichiro Tenryu & Randy Savage vs Yoshiaki Yatsu & Haku (SWS) : Man, this starts off with a bang! A real melee...this was GREAT! Macho's diving off the top & bleeding , Yatsu & Haku are stomping on Tenryu's face like they are trying to stamp out a fire. I LOVED THIS ONE. Haku is perfect in Japan - watch all of his SWS stuff 😄 Tenryu & Yatsu never have liked each other and are excellent foes. When I named the blog, Wrestling Dream Battles, this was the type of match that I was thinking about. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED stuff especially if you're a fan of any of these dudes! Roddy Piper & Dick Slater vs Giant Baba & Genichiro Tenryu (AJPW) : JIP, 6 minutes of super fun pro wrestling action. Hot Rod & Dirty Dick Slater are a great high energy team. They worked so well with Baba and made him look great. Dream pairing with Piper vs Tenryu, we get a brief but satisfying segment with them. Hey you guys! More Madness! This time we're looking at Michinoku Pro Wrestling in 1999. " Evil" Great Sasuke & Masaaki Mochizuki vs Gran Hamada & Tiger Mask IV (01/10/99 Michinoku Pro) : This was very good, heated stuff! Excellent action when both pairs interacted. I've seen this given 2 stars (**!?) but this is much better than that. 11 minutes. Great Sasuke vs Jinsei Shinzaki (04/27/99): Yes! This was a great match. I loved all of the twists and surprises. Sasuke had a counter or reversal for Shinzaki at nearly every turn. It's probably not as got as their 1994 match but it's absolutely worth your time. Strongly RECOMMENDED Masaaki Mochizuki, Gran Naniwa & Pablo Marquez vs Great Sasuke, Magnum Tokyo & Kendo (04/29) : 10 of 26 minutes. What we get is pretty damn great. Randy Savage & Haku vs Genichiro Tenryu & George Takano (SWS) : First off, if you're born in the 2000's or 2010's, all that neon spandex is real 😄 That actually could be bought at a sporting goods store at the mall. Anyhow, we get a heck of a matchup. Takano is just a partner to Tenryu. He is alright here but you're watching this for Randy & Haku vs Tenryu. Randy does so many little great things trying to goad the SWS ace. The action is right in line with what you would see during the 80's with All Japan and you'll get no complaints from me. Haku is a perfect fit for Japan. He stomps Tenryu's head so many times that the Japanese icon starts bleeding ! Yes, from there this match gets great. Randy is loading up punches to the gash. And this starts to get a bit chaotic (good). And then it gets even better when a chair is brought into the mix. From there, things go off the rails and like any good promotion, this sets up more drama & dissension.....

I haven't seen it all but contrary to popular belief, early 2000's Japanese wrestling doesn't suck. Is it different than the greatest decade in modern wrestling (1990s) ? Yup but there's plenty of great wrestling to enjoy. I think the inter-promotional stuff is very interesting and although it would stay a part of puro, it was best when it was fresh & new. You might be familiar with a couple of these but there's a bunch that I think flew under the radar or have been forgotten about: Curry Man, CIMA & Super Boy vs Minoru Fujita, Shiryu II & Jody Fleisch (M-Pro 12/21/99) A few days short of 2000 but I'm counting it! Joshi is something I'd loved but eventually moved away from... thinking I'd seen all that I had wanted to see. It took me long time to come back to it but the blog has definitely reconnected me. Masa Fuchi & Tiger Mask vs Hiro Saito & Shunji Takano (AJPW) : Fun stuff! Shunji's German suplex looks a lot like Takayama's because of his height. That was sick! Enjoyed Fuchi punch Saito in the head from the mount position. He look crazed. Tiger Misawa is really in his element here. Stan Hansen vs Terry Gordy (AJPW) : Hot damn, this was an intense blood soaked fight! There's some great action here with a frenzied pace. On top of that the post match brawling is the cherry on top! Hi wrestling fans! We've got more Tajiri You Might Have Missed! Check out this cool pic! Okay let's get to the matches! Tajiri vs Minoru Tanaka (BJW 02/03/98) : This is from Big Japan Wrestling. These two are at it again! See this post for their previous fight. Here we get the full match & its 8 minutes of excellence. This is a tournament match so both wrestlers are looking to end this quickly and advance to the finals. Minoru has the advantage as he uses his grappling skills to put Tajiri in a few submission predicaments. Yoshihiro fights with his feet but is looking to send Minoru back to BattlARTS with suplexes. There's a lot of cool stuff here and fans of either guy will have a blast with this bout. Very good! ~spoiler alert~ Tajiri vs Gedo (BJW 02/03/98) : Yes! This was smart! Gedo uses the injury Tajiri sustained in the previous match against him. This is well paced, told a great story but had plenty of action & excitement. This was a great match! Gedo is awe...

Lex Luger vs Masahiro Chono : Color me surprised! This was very good stuff...maybe even great. Chono doesn't get the love he deserves. Just a great character especially in Japan. But here, I had no idea Luger was still wrestling. You know what I mean? This would have been pretty well received if it took place in the States, I think. Probably just because they actually wrestled with a good pace, good action and there wasn't a bunch of crap. Not gonna say I'm a Lex fan but...he's probably one of my favorite muscle bound meatheads. Riki Choshu & Takashi Iizuka & Osamu Nishimura & Satoshi Kojima vs. Shiro Koshinaka & Akira Nogami & Michiyoshi Ohara & Akitoshi Saito : As I get older, I understand the punch & stomp-on-the-throat style of wrestling much more. I have always valued intensity in wrestling; a type of intensity that you don't get in 2020's wrestling (sorry it's true). It connects with me on a primal level. I'll be honest,...
