Starting a mini project for this month. I'm going watch and review matches that took place in the month of March. This will be a good way for you & me to get a variety of new wrestling. And when I say new, I mean new old wrestling 😋 Let's check out March in New Japan Pro Wrestling 1996
3/01
Yoji Anjo & Yoshihiro Takayama vs. Kazuo Yamazaki & Takayuki Iizuka - Muto vs Takada is the money draw to this inter promotional feud but these tag matches provide the quality wrestling. Intense and stiff as a starched shirt. This felt more like a gang fight than wrestling match. If UWFi tags were all like this, I think we'd be talking more about them in 2026. Great match!
3/26
Masahiro Chono & Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. Satoshi Kojima & Riki Choshu - Sweet pants Kojima! I like that blue. ChoTen are jealous and kick his ass. This felt like a WAR match. Just meat & potatoes wrestling. Very stiff Kenka kicks from Chono. This was really good stuff.
Shiro Koshinaka & Tatsumi Fujinami vs. Genichiro Tenryu & Nobutaku Araya - Speaking of WAR 😀 Tenryu is here baby! He smacks the shit outta Akitoshi Saito beforehand for some reason. He's very salty today. That gets everyone in a sour mood & makes the match absolutely worth your time. It's a lil choppy in places but it's these guys at their surly best. Very good match
Keiji Muto & Kensuke Sasaki vs. Yoshihiro Takayama & Yoji Anjo - This was a good match but it was more Muto's style than the UWFi or Sasaki's. That's OK...Anjo made this interesting. I'm sure we'd all like to see Takayama & Kensuke beat each other up but..it doesn't happen here.
Keiji Muto & Kensuke Sasaki vs. Shinya Hashimoto & Junji Hirata - Alright! This was awesome pro wrestling. Muto is way more reliable as a tag wrestler. Same with Kensuke. They brought it for the main event. Hash & Super Strong are a seemingly under the radar great tag team. Hirata is such a bruiser and Hashimoto is a badass. The fact that Kensuke plays a big role in delivering the action & Muto is in for the storytelling moments really helps. This way there's no long "Muto in control portion." He seems to be in to move the plot along in one way or another...but is not the one who's ultimately in control of the rhythm of the match. I think its Hashimoto. As a result, we get a great tag match. Perhaps a near classic because I really got sucked into this one.
Stick around for more March Mayhem as well as Cruising the 80's and Tajiri You Might Have Missed. Might even tie some March matches in there as well...I plan on it! Be sure to click the labels below for more stuff you might like. Also check out the popular posts! Thanks for reading folks!
