Kenta Kobashi & KENTA & Tamon Honda vs. Yoshihiro Takayama & Takuma Sano & Atsushi Aoki - This baby moves at a steady pace for around 30 minutes. There's nice spikes in the action so it never feels like a drag. In fact, its hard to tell when the end is coming. That's a good thing! Kobashi is all about his chops, KENTA is the workhorse and even Tamon Honda has his good moments. For the other team, Takayama is the big focus as both Kobashi and KENTA have a purpose for attacking him. Aoki keeps going after Kobashi to raise his standing in NOAH. I liked this part. Sano just continues to be a very good player in this match. His stomps & kicks looked devastating. This was a very good match that didn't rely upon high spots or melodramatic kick outs. This was just a quality 6 man match. You'll definitely like it!
Naomichi Marufuji & Takashi Suguira vs. Mark Briscoe & Jay Briscoe - A true 'Holy Shit!' finish! This was more than just a finish for the ages though. This was a classic match in the NOAH style. Junior style moves with a little bit slower pace...it reflected that this was NOT for the Jr. tag straps but the main GHC tag titles. That said there were all types of fireworks here. Only one slip as Mark nearly recreates Hayabusa's tragic lionsault. Thankfully he doesn't rotate and ends up doing a reverse flying headbutt instead. The red neck kung-fu master redeems himself and nails a beautiful top rope version that would make TAKA proud. So they were ambitious here but it all works. There's enough substance in between the big moves that this is more than just spots. And I think that is what makes this worthwhile. If you're a fan of the style then I think you ought to watch this.
Mitsuharu Misawa vs. Takeshi Morishima - Misawa is clearly past his prime but that doesn't mean he can't do a great match. Here he does everything he can to fight off the young super heavyweight. He's holding onto the GHC belt. Morishima looks more like Big Van Vader in 2008. Appropriately, he uses big forearm clubs & his bodyweight as his weapons. In response, old man Misawa, hit him with jaw rattling elbows and some unexpected moves. He really gave it his all - maybe this was his last great singles match? I definitely recommend this one.
