April Anarchy: The Winger vs. Shadow WX - 04/29/01

-

The Winger vs. Shadow WX (BJW): Barb wire match. This was smooth or pretty but, dammit! This was fun!! They had some excellent spots with the B-wire boards. That drop toe hold into the wire was especially sick 🤘 Another neat aspect was that strands of the wire was coming loose and staying attached in the wrestlers. So each bump or movement involved getting stuck with metal barbs. Post match, Winger shows that a large piece was entangled in his hair. So, yeah this had good wrestling working with the props, those spots were pretty awesome and this was a hair under 15 minutes. There's nothing to object to - this was a blast. RECOMMENDED

TAJIRI You Might Have Missed #3

Greetings and salutations wrestling fans! More Yoshihiro Tajiri for your entertainment! Tajiri vs Minoru Tanaka (BattlARTS 01/20/98) We get 12 of 15 minutes. Damn, this is a cool ass match! Blue gear Tajiri might be my favorite era of his. He & Minoru are doing great submissions, pin attempts, kicks & suplexes. They are evenly matched and just doing everything! A great match and a peek into what Tajiri could have been like if he stayed in Japan. Tajiri vs Antifaz del Norte (ECW Dec. 1998) - Their debut match. It's mainly highlights from Hardcore TV. Tajiri was already doing his Tarantula move!? I didn't think that started until right before he started wearing the long pants & spitting the mist. Tajiri vs El Mosco, Taz (ECW 06/24/99) - Hartford, CT fan cam. It's a fun segment with El Moscow where he's given time to shine but is quickly dispatched by Tajiri, who's moving up in the ranks. His win impresses Taz who comes out from the back & gives the ...

All Japan Women's Wrestling - 1999

I'm trying to work through my DVDs still! Most/all of these are from AJW Athena TV episodes. I think someone compiled the best of a bunch of episodes. These are a sort of consultation prize on my AJW 09/21/97 DVD that cuts off the end of the famous cage match. Zap I is Kaoru Ito and Zap T is Tomoko Watanabe for reference. 02/16/99 ZAP I & T vs. Kumiko Maekawa & Kayo Noumi - This is how you do a studio TV match! Fast, violent and entertaining! The ZAPs are on the warpath. Maekawa can put up a fight but Kayo is a lamb for the slaughter. Kumiko tries her best but Ito & Tomoko are their normal high impact selves plus with weapons too! This was great! LCO are in the stands & mix it up with them afterwards. Yay! Zenjo vs. Neo SCRAMBLE BOUTS 5 X 5: Manami Toyota & Momoe Nakanishi & Nanae Takahashi & Miyuki Fujii & ZAP Isozaki vs. Kyoko Inoue & Chaparrita ASARI & Misae Genki & Saya Endo & Yuka Nakamura - This was great!!! Takes a minute to ...

New Japan 1990: Muto & Chono vs Hashimoto & Sasaki

-

Keiji Muto &  Masa Chono vs Shinya Hashimoto & Kensuke Sasaki (06/18):  16 minutes of action! Chono & Sasaki were flying out the gate! Muto & Hashimoto slowed it down for a moment. Then this kept going at a steady pace until the finish. Chono had an awesome segment with Hashimoto involving the STF. Honestly everyone was excellent here. This was a very good tag match with four soon to be super stars. More 1990 New Japan to come. Stay tuned folks! 👇👇👇Click the labels for more matches you'd like to see!

Psycho September: Abdullah The Butcher vs Kevin Sullivan

-
Image
Abdullah The Butcher vs Kevin Sullivan (10/02/93 - ECW Bloodfest - Steel Cage Match) : Nice violent stuff! My favorite bit was when Woman comes out to stop Abby from choking Sullivan. Then the Madman from Sudan goes after the vivacious valet; her eyes rolling back in her head and Kevin Sullivan whacks the Butcher with a chair!! Damn you can hear it smack his broad back like a Ric Flair chop! Inside the ring is the good but standard "use the cage as a weapon" fighting. Taz comes out and throws a metal briefcase in there to help Sullivan. Then it gets really good again 😁 Fun, fun stuff.

April Anarchy: Chono vs Luger and more! - 04/29/96

Lex Luger vs Masahiro Chono : Color me surprised! This was very good stuff...maybe even great. Chono doesn't get the love he deserves. Just a great character especially in Japan. But here, I had no idea Luger was still wrestling. You know what I mean? This would have been pretty well received if it took place in the States, I think. Probably just because they actually wrestled with a good pace, good action and there wasn't a bunch of crap. Not gonna say I'm a Lex fan but...he's probably one of my favorite muscle bound meatheads. Riki Choshu & Takashi Iizuka & Osamu Nishimura & Satoshi Kojima vs. Shiro Koshinaka & Akira Nogami & Michiyoshi Ohara & Akitoshi Saito : As I get older, I understand the punch & stomp-on-the-throat style of wrestling much more. I have always valued intensity in wrestling; a type of intensity that you don't get in 2020's wrestling (sorry it's true). It connects with me on a primal level. I'll be honest,...
