Go Shiozaki vs Austin Aries (6th Anniversary - 02/23/08): Holy shit! This was awesome! Aries knows how to work with NOAH guys. The size difference made for some fantastic counters & reversals. The story is the smaller Austin chipping away at the larger Go. I'm glad that they don't pretend that Aries is the same size as the NOAH native. But don't misunderstand, they still beat the crap outta each other! This is exactly what I hoped for with this bout. It's a hard hitting match with great, great pacing. It's a match that reminded me why I love ROH. And this one is a classic - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Hello wrestling fans!  Mitsuharu Misawa vs Kenta Kobashi was the ultimate rivalry when I got into Japanese wrestling. Dave Meltzer gave their matches all kinds of stars (back when it meant something). Their matches for AJPW in the late 90's pushed the boundaries of what pro wrestling could be. I definitely think their matches are worth seeing to this day. If you haven't seen their work against each other then, I have a guide for you! Bruiser Brody vs Great Kabuki (Cage Match - World Class - 06/07/81) : A really good old school back and forth cage match. There's a fair bit of action here as opposed to a lot of stabbing and face grating like Abby cage matches. It's nothing earth shattering but a perfect match to watch while eating lunch 🙂

Cactus Jack vs Terry Funk (IWA Japan -  No Rope Barbed Wire Death Match - Duel of the Wilds  01/08/95): Quite possibly the greatest deathmatch that I've seen. It was everything that makes Terry Funk & Cactus Jack great- violence, comedy, physical disregard, psychology, etc. They really sucked me into this match. They didn't depend on the gimmick- they used it to their advantage. The barbwire was just there for them to use. The chairs, flames , blood , stumbling, chaos, terror, exhaustion- it was demented, no! depraved. Just fantastically orchestrated violence. I can't rave enough. For complaints, it didn't have a tremendous build to an orgasmic finish. Hell the finish wasn't that great but, it was a psychological masterwork, dare I say in spite of...no! because of these things. This was a spectacle as all deathmatches should be. They put everything into this one. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Abdullah The Butcher vs The Sheik (Cage Match - TWA 1991): Hot damn! This is what Psycho September is all about! Sheik is cutting up the ref before Abby gets in the ring. We get bloody carving in the ring. Sabu throws a metal trash can over top of the cage. Sheik caves the bin in over Abdullah's bald head. Eventually there's a winner but things don't end. In fact, things get crazier! Sabu is in the mix, Kevin Sullivan comes out, Terry Funk is fighting. Sheik gets a sign off a wall or something. Abby is choking a camera man. Some other dude gets it! Highly Recommended mayhem!

Zero One Wrestling - 2007 - Part 1

Happy New Year! If you follow me on PWO then you know I have an interest in Zero One Wrestling. In my own wrestling research, I've found it difficult to get a good read on the promotion. Cagematch has a couple reviews here and there. I would say there's only one person on there that I trust their opinion and taste. So I thought I'd check it out myself by going through what's available online and cherry picking matches that I think look good. Originally I was going to watch a few matches per show but that was way too much. Again, if you've read my other posts here or on PWO, grandpa bought a bunch of DVDs that he's gotta watch.
