March Mayhem: Do Fixer vs Blood Generation - 03/31/06

Blood Generation (CIMA, Naruki Doi, Masato Yoshino) vs Do Fixer (Ryo Saito, Dragon Kid, Genki Horiguchi) (ROH SuperCard of Honor): Holy shit balls! This was bananas. After I thought they had wrapped things up, the crazy bastards kept going! Plus it wasn't overkill... I absolutely thought this would be an overkill match but no! They successfully ramped up the action in a believable & fresh way. Too much happened to keep a tally & I can't say anyone sold anything in a story telling way. But this was a classic, all-time classic (perhaps?) cardio-work rate spectacular. ROH & AEW has this on YouTube. Go watch it!

Hi kind folks! We're back with more Zero One 2007! Helluva start last post. Let's see if the good times keep rolling! Masato Tanaka vs Yoshihito Sasaki (05/27) -This is precisely what I wanted with this matchup. These two guys who have the energy, intensity and toughness to break bricks with their bare hands. They gave no quarter and expected none in return. Korakuen Hall brings out the best in people and this was no different. Hard chops, harder elbows and lariats so stiff it knock a T-800 down. Yeah Masato Tanaka is a known great but Yoshihito Sasaki doesn't get enough love. If you're a Tanaka fan then you NEED to see this match and you'll probably be a new Sasaki fan by the end. Classic match HIGH RECOMMENDATION. Steve Corino & CW Anderson vs Tajiri & Masato Tanaka (06/20) - Flashback to ECW & early Zero One! I had to watch this one. TAKA Michinoku vs Pantera (WWF) : A rare WWF match here on Dream Battles. But it's here because this is an awesome cruiserweight (light heavyweight?) match between two international greats. This all kinds of spectacular moves PLUS they get time to work a story. The announcing is pretty awful and distracting (and I loved JR & the King) so mute it. Happy New Year! If you follow me on PWO then you know I have an interest in Zero One Wrestling. In my own wrestling research, I've found it difficult to get a good read on the promotion. Cagematch has a couple reviews here and there. I would say there's only one person on there that I trust their opinion and taste. So I thought I'd check it out myself by going through what's available online and cherry picking matches that I think look good. Originally I was going to watch a few matches per show but that was way too much. Again, if you've read my other posts here or on PWO, grandpa bought a bunch of DVDs that he's gotta watch. Cruising the 80's: Dory Funk Jr. vs Jumbo Tsuruta - 12/03/86

Dory Funk Jr. vs Jumbo Tsuruta (AJPW) - We only get a third of this but this is slow boiling old school technical match that I would have loved to see in full. Now don't get me wrong, I try to watch stuff under 15 minutes like this TV version especially when looking online. Again, I am trying to get thru my DVD backlog. That said, this was really good and they work a mean headlock match. They are knocking the sweat from each other with their elbows & chops. I dug this one! Dory's an absolute master in pacing and maybe the best ever frankly. He doesn't have a great look or a ton of athletic moves but he knows what to do and when to do it better than anyone. And he knows his limitations. He's in my top 25 favorite wrestlers. Jumbo too.

Hello wrestling fans!  Mitsuharu Misawa vs Kenta Kobashi was the ultimate rivalry when I got into Japanese wrestling. Dave Meltzer gave their matches all kinds of stars (back when it meant something). Their matches for AJPW in the late 90's pushed the boundaries of what pro wrestling could be. I definitely think their matches are worth seeing to this day. If you haven't seen their work against each other then, I have a guide for you! Now let me preface this by saying this isn't an exhaustive list of all of their encounters. These are the BIG ones. These are the MUST SEE ones. Absolutely feel free to fill in the gaps.
