NOAH - 04/27/08
I bought this DVD awhile back and this seemed like a great time to watch it!
Akira Taue, Kotaro Suzuki & Ricky Marvin vs D'lo Brown, Buchanan & Bobby Fish: This reminded me of a WAR 6 man match with the talent mix they have here. Taue is hitting big moves and watching him & Buchanan tussle is fun. Everyone is working really well with each other. They're not doing anything too complex but this got very good at the end. The near falls were quite believable since there's not a clear pecking order.
Kenta Kobashi, KENTA & Tamon Honda vs Yoshihiro Takayama, Naoki Sano & Go Shiozaki: A lot of the match story & action was Shiozaki challenging his mentor, Kobashi. They damaged each other's chests with vicious chops. Then there's the additional element of Go breaking away from 'Burning' so Honda & KENTA are glad to punish Shiozaki for. Sano & Takayama are a helluva team to have on your side though. Takayama has eternal beef with Kobashi and KENTA for instance. There's tons of hard hitting action like you'd expect. If you like this style then, I RECOMMEND this one - it's great!
Naomichi Marufuji & Takeshi Sugiura vs Takeshi Morishima & Muhammad Yone: This ultimately was a mid card match but they were drilling each other. Yone, has still got it. He did a spinning wheel kick that rang a bell for damn sure! Marufuji was spot on with his thrust kicks, Sugiura had his front kicks and Morishima had lariats from heaven. Holy jaw breaker Batman! Great match! RECOMMENDED
Jun Akiyama & Takeshi Rikio vs Kensuke Sasaki & Katsuhiko Nakajima: Rikio doesn't get nearly as much love as he should. He's a boss - brain rattling slaps & shoulder tackles like a sprinter van running into somebody. Today its young Nakajima. Akiyama is a the beginning of his best character arc and so is Kensuke as Nakajima's 'dad.' I love when they show Akira Hokuto's concerned face when Katsu is getting beaten. Broken record but, another great bout - RECOMMENDED stuff.
Mitsuharu Misawa & Yoshinari Ogawa vs Akitoshi Saito & Bison Smith: A really fun match - an awesome performance by Ogawa. He kept things interesting for his team. Poor Misawa is pretty banged up here but he's still one of the best ever. He still has great timing and takes his bumps. The match was about Bison & Saito showing their power.
